Sunday January 3rd at Lee Civic Center
Cold with wind - Warm with music

What a fine season for bluegrass and old country music.  Cold weather notwithstanding, Borrowed Time, South of Dixie,  the Pine Island Trio, and the blues duo Screamin' and Cryin' put on an outstanding show for a hundred or so of us polar bears at the Lee Civic Center on January 3.  I've always been astonished at the depth and quailty of the music talent around us, and the surprises keep on coming.  The remarkable Laws made an unsheduled appearance, and the lovely Michele broke all the laws (sorry!) when she played bass without taking off her gloves.  Some of us got to hear them for the first time and we really liked the quality of the Laws' songs, singing and original guitar styles.  A scheduled appearance the night before was cancelled (weather again!) but they'll try again, so be sure to join us and the Laws on the big stage at Miromar Outlets on Saturday, January 16, from 3-6 PM.

Our informal arrangement that has given us access to the Lee Civic Center in recent years has come to an end, and we are actively seeking a new performance space somewhere between Naples and Ft. Myers that would hold 250-500 people and welcome our monthly concerts.  Watch this space for details, or feel free to make a suggestion about new venues yourself.

Lou Reid & Carolina's January 9 show in Naples sold out a week in advance.  Our sympathies to those who couldn't make it--here's a sample of what you missed:  www.loureidandcarolina.com/fr_aboutus.cfm.  Click on COMING EVENTS to learn about other festivals in coming weeks.  There's a lot of terrific music coming our way.
